Circulatory System

THE INTRODUCTION OF CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

Let’s talk about circulatory system. Have you heard about circulatory system? Circulatory system is about a closed system of blood within our body through blood vessels. It has a relation with our organ that we call heart.
Heart is a hollow structure in your chest that composed almost entirely muscles! It pumps blood through the body. It has 4 sections. The upper part we call it atrium. We have left and right atrium. Atrium receives blood. Besides atrium, we have ventricles. It’s the lower part of heart. Ventricle pumps blood to all over the body.
Here is the pathway of blood. We have systemic and pulmonary. The pulmonary pathway is from heart-lungs-heart. It allows gaseous exchange happen in our blood through lungs, to get the oxygenated blood. And from the lungs, it sends back the blood to the heart.
But systemic pathway is from heart-other parts of body-heart. The oxygenated blood is pumped through the aorta; the largest artery in the body. After the blood circulates around the body, the deoxygenated blood goes back to heart through inferior vena cava and anterior vena cava.
THE DISORDERS OF THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
So after we know some of the basics of circulatory system, lets talk more about circulatory system diseases. First, the circulatory system disease is:
- Atherosclerosis
It’s when fatty (cholesterol) deposits in the arteries. The fatty blocked the blood flow and increase blood pressure. Hence, it will increase blood clot as well.
- Heart Attack
Due to the atherosclerosis, coronary artery cannot receive the oxygen supply. Heart muscles begin to die because lack of oxygen supply that passes through.
- Stroke
Stroke happens when the clot blocked the vessel that leads the nutrients and oxygen to the brain. Due to lack of oxygen and nutrients, it can cause several of these: paralysis, loss the ability to talk/speak, or even the powerful one – Death

Do you wonder how to prevent and avoid circulatory system diseases?
First, get a healthy diet. A healthy diet should be composed of many essential nutrients and fibers, not too much cholesterol. It’s to prevent blood clotting inside. Next, avoid smoking. It will force your heart to work even harder. And last but not least, get yourself exercise regularly. The exercise may keep you fit and let your heart pumps the blood faster and allow us to exercise longer.
